DROUGHT INTERRUPTS RACING SEASON AT PADUCAH INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

Racing to Resume on Friday, September 28th

Great racing and good track conditions have become the norm at Paducah International Raceway. But with this season’s severe drought robbing the track’s water supply, officials have been forced to alter the 2012 schedule.

It takes 65,000 to 70,000 gallons of water to prepare the track’s surface before a Friday night race. The water level at the track’s reservoir has reached such a low level that this volume of water cannot be pumped. Hopefully, the water level will soon increase so that normal operations can resume.

The next scheduled event will be on Friday Night, September 28th. The Barbeque on the River 100 will feature a $1,500 to win UMP Late Model race, a $1,000 to win UMP Modified 20 lapper, a 20 lap Pro Late Model feature, 20 laps for the UMP Street Stocks, and a 15 lap 4 Cylinder Warrior Special. Also, running their season Championship races will be the High School Warriors and the Kentucky Vintage Cars.

We hope that a few weeks off will give the reservoirs a chance to rise to a sufficient level that will allow us to prepare PIR  in the manner that the fans drivers have come to enjoy. Thanks for your patience. See you at the races!
